| The vines grow at a height of 730m asl: there are 50 hectares at Castiglione di Sicilia and 5 hectares at Solicchiata. The vines plunge their roots into a land born of destruction by volcanic lava, growing in unique soil and climatic conditions, marked by a micro-climate with significant night-day differences in temperature. The soil is loose, occasionally sandy or alluvial with little clay but rich in mineral salts: perfect for cultivating vines. Important native varieties are grown, such as Nero D’Avola, Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Inzolia, enhancing international wines such as Mondeuse, Syrah, Cabernet and Merlot. The grapes are picked when they are perfectly mature. |
